Twin terror

If Terry Murray and the Kings never hear the word “twins” again after this series, they will probably be happy. Chances are, they will even be boycotting the awesome 1988 movie “Twins,” featuring the governor and Danny DeVito. Murray gets daily questions about how to deal with Vancouver’s Daniel and Henrik Sedin, and yesterday Murray deadpanned an answer about how we try to control the twins in Game 5. “We’re going to try to get Handzus out there against them and Scuderi and Doughty,” The coach paused, then said, “No, that’s the same thing we’ve been doing.” Murray and the media laughed, but then Murray did share his thoughts…

MURRAY: “We’re going to stay with it. I liked what we did. We competed hard. We had our scoring chances against that line. I know, on the road, there’s going to be two lines ready to go. The Kopitar line is a line that I have a lot of confidence in, on the checking part of the game against them. Same thing on the back end. They’re going to be looking to match up, probably against defensemen than against the lines, so we’re going to have to be responsible and do a good job. We have to recognize that whenever the Sedins are out there, it’s a defensive situation, and stay above it.”

That means they’re looking for OD and the girls will be out there.

I loved those signs “Daniel your brother is ugly” and “Henrick your brother is ugly” behind the Ducks fan Patrick in the square after the game the other night. Classic.

    Rich-

Can you give us a stat on Frolov throughout his career on breakway goals? It has to be less than 5%…..bye bye frolov, your going to have to take your shopping habits elsewhere.

  3. Todd M. says:

    Let’s blow them out tonight…5-2!!!

  4. hockey junkie says:

Really Playoffbound??? Fro work his @$$ off last game and got two assist, maybe you did not see those stats as well. Sometimes the stats don’t show the hard work of a player.
It gets real old seeing all the BEEOTCHING….

Kings are in the playoffs everyone enjoying and support all the guys!!!! Or go somewhere else and complain.

    LET”S GO KINGS!!!!!

I don’t think Frolov’s roll this year has been to score. Of course it would be nice if he scored but he has been good defensively, checking and passing. I think Brown’s game has been better since playing with Frolov… okay I’m sure Frolov bashing will begin.. now.

hockey junkie: I would agree with Playoffbound, just about the breakaways.

I don’t know if I have EVER seen Fro score on a breakaway… and he seems to be the best at getting them!! He gets the most during the game, and he NEVER finishes. Another reason why he hasnt been in the shoot out at all this year… he is just totally useless on a breakaway

  7. Dan H. says:

I guess there IS a reason TM doesn’t put him out in the shootout. I always questioned it and I’m a huge Fro supporter but he hasn’t been good on breakaways.

He had a good game last game. To point out one play is easy to do but even Luongo was flopping all ovre to make that save on him.

Live practice going on now on Nuckers website.

I seem to remember someone else who was not very good at breakaways and really didn’t like them either. He wore #99!!!!!

  10. CiscoC says:

Fro should go with a wrap around on his next breakaway.

  11. KinguyJosh says:

We need this win tonight! Keep the twins in check and someone please stop Samuelsson! DD, time to have the game of your life after the great news! GO KINGS GO!

  12. Haha, Rich. That movie IS awesome.

  13. VanKingsFan says:

Cisco: Priceless lol… probably be his best chance to score too lol.

Fro had Luo beat if he just pulled to the back hand, like Dan H said, Luo was floppin and off balance.

  14. Sebastian says:

CiscoC, me and my friend were saying that the other night at Staples haha.

Any work on tonight’s lineup for the Kings?

  15. mrbrett7 says:

Fro has been just fine…just don’t give him any breakaways.

  16. VanKingsFan says:

The boys are only a few blocks from me at practice…. and I am stuck in the office… i can feel the winning energy come from the Kings being so close to me..

Every time i walk/bike past GM place the last couple weeks I give it a big giant middle finger

  17. jkking says:

    GINGERS have no soul..

  18. Jay says:

    VanKingsFan… Will you be tonight?

  19. VanKingsFan says:

    Jay:
Will I be what …. I am thinking I will be at Copper Tank to watch the game in Kits

  20. Dan H. says:

Isn’t today national “kick a Ginger” day in Canada?

  21. Capt Jam says:

I will second Brett on Frolov. He’s done everything in this series but score. He’s been a terrific physical presence, and he just needs an ugly goal to get it going. Maybe Terry Murray will throw him a bone and let him have tonight’s empty netter.

That’s right, I just called it.

    DFTG!

    Go Kings!!!

I have to say that I am constantly perplexed by the dissatisfaction that seems to grace the boards lately. I wish the Kings pulled off a win last game, but they didn’t. Despite what some think, experience does help, and so does heart. The boys are somewhat short on the experience, but I think long heart, including Fro. Have you seen the body checks he’s been throwing lately, and he hasn’t been backing down from the face washes and chirping.

The Kings are in the playoffs. When is the last time that has been said. Can there be no excitement for what has been accomplished. Can we not see the glass as half full. Don’t you know it takes more muscles to frown than to smile.. Have you noticed that the Devils are out of the playoffs…

  23. PLAYOFFBOUND says:

@ Everyone who commented on my original post….that was frustration coming out. You look at a guy who has never been to the playoffs. Your at the end of your contract, you get a chance to seal the deal and really virtually knock Vancouver out of the playoffs, you make the same move you always do on a breakaway, get stopped and they score 1 min later to tie the game. You want big $ you need to show up in big game situations. I have backed him all year, but its time for him to step up and be the guy. Everyone knows we dont need three big men, Zeus, Modin included to handle the puck down low. He needs to prove he is worth staying here these next two games. Go Kings!

  24. smcclory says:

    @PLAYOFFBOUND

I think Fro’s game most of this season has been about puck control and wearing down the other team’s D, and he’s been doing a great job of it. He’s probably the strongest puck control guy we have right now. His defensive side has been pretty solid the past couple of games too. He’s taking the hits (and making them) on counter pinching that has resulted in more than a few scoring chances,as well as just getting the puck into a safe area to get the change on a long shift.

He’s not good on the breakaway…but that’s not the role he’s played the past couple of years.

I think it would be a shame to let him walk after this season because he brings a crucial part of the game to a young team.

  25. Minnesota Kings Fan says:

Doesn’y ANYONE remember Fro’s goal in the 8 goal game against Luongo? It was the first goal of the game. Brown chips it behind the Van d-man and FROLOV is in alone on a breakaway from the Vancouver blueline and SCORES! What short memories you have! It was only a few weeks ago…
