It has become clear that while the Olympics were a good experience for Jonathan Quick, and might have helped him in terms of getting a mental and physical rest, there are some areas of his game that aren’t as sharp as before the break. Quick was in a tough spot, as the Americans’ No. 3 goalie, and didn’t see many pucks during those two weeks in Vancouver.
Quick’s puck-handling skills, and his movement in the crease, have suffered a bit, but his overall play certainly hasn’t been awful, and Terry Murray said the only way for Quick to return to form is to keep playing. The schedule hasn’t done the Kings a lot of favors. Not until next Monday-Tuesday will the Kings be able to get two consecutive days between games.
MURRAY: “We’ve got a little bit of time coming up, after the Chicago and Dallas games, to get some practice in. I think it’s coming. It’s maybe just getting a little more comfortable again, is where he needs to get to, but I think it’s coming. He will get his game right back to where it was before the break. In saying that, I don’t think it is right there right now, but he’s just got to work through it. He’s still playing good and giving us and opportunity to win every night, and he’ll get better from here.”

alot have been said about the Kings not playing well last game but 2 of those goals(not counting the open net one)was on Quick. He’s ben good this year but not great….still around 90% saves….
Sorry, but I have to say – Quick talks about himself in the third person?
Guess so!
I suppose that was probably actually Murray.
He will be fine. No more looking like a Kelly Hrudey fish out of water though please.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIK ERSBERG. Perhaps its time for the 28 year old to get his monthly start?
Quick got some bad influence from Tim Thomas. Breakdancing on the ice!
Has EE started against a lower ranked team this season?I thought the plan was to let him sit for 2 months then throw him out there against a team like the Sharks.
@neil, Uh, Quick not GREAT this year? He still tied for the NHL lead in wins (more that Brodeur, Miller, Thomas, Vokoun, Luongo, Kiprusoff, Lundqvist, etc.). As far as I’m concerned, Quick could have a .750 save %, as long as he wins! When was the last time a Kings goalie lead the league in wins? Yeah, he could be better, but you can’t ask more from an essentially 1st year #1 goaltender…
I think he’s more worried about his wife having a baby any day now.
Oh no! Dustin Brown had his 2nd kid and hasn’t been the same since!
@jkking, I wondered about that same thing.I was screwing up at work every day before my daughter was born.It was almost a sigh of relief when she popped out though,then things went back to normal.
yes. Happy Birthday to EE indeed! It would be great to see him on the ice tonight. Hopefully he’ll get a shot, but based on the past I’m betting we still see Quicker in net. It seems important for him to have a chance to “bounce back” from losses like the last 2.
Whatever the reason for Notso’s lack of concentration needs to be put on the backburner and get the boys going with a win against the BJs tonight! GO KINGS!!
BJs,I like that.LOL
I almost forgot.HAPPY B-DAY EE.
@Dominick, Yeah, gives a whole new meaning to the crowd chant “BJs SUCK!”
LOL!
@CupRun2012, wins dont make you a great goaltender(like a pitcher with a high era)no he is not a great goaltender….maybe very good but not great….
@VanKingsFan, Happy B day! As for his monthly start, Isn’t there another B-day coming up within the goalies? I am talking about the birth of Quick’s child (unless I missed that, only skimmed the news last few days or so).
@Deker, LMAO!!!
bj sucks…i dont get it……ok i do!!!!!
@jkking,
That did cross my mind the other night. He has the body language of a guy who’s expecting a call telling him to get to the hospital ASAP. I’d actually be in favor of EE getting the start tonight against Columbus.
