Frolov postgame quote

(on whether he’s playing like he has something to prove…)
FROLOV: “You always want to prove to people what you’re capable of, what you can do, and try to do the best you can. It’s probably the key for success for any athlete in any sport, actually. It’s your job when you step on the ice. Sometimes it’s not going well, but you have to try.”

    great game fro

    he’s been a beast this last +30 plus games.

    fro does the little things that go get appreciated enough.

    frolov plays better when he plays with something to prove.

    go fro go.

  9. Christian T (AK) says:

    I think Fro is proving to us that he want’s to remain a King. To me that’s pretty important. I was happy to see Cammi and Sully go because I felt they didn’t really care if they were a King as long as they got paid.
    I think if we have expectations of Fro scoring around 50-60 points and playing well on D we will enjoy resigning him.

  11. Action says:

    Typical lengthy Frolov interview haha.

  12. scv king says:

    Fro on his worst day is a pretty decent player. On his best days, he does things that are pretty much unique in the NHL. As Badgoaltending said, a lot of what Fro does is unappreciated. The two-way game he is able to play consistently is at times below the radar, but he is almost irreplaceable.
    Action: Great line on the lengthy interview! Too funny!
    Here is the question I have: Fro appears to be happy without the spotlight. If he were to beome a FA and sign elsewhere for big $, the spotlight becomes part of the territory, which I would imagine is not something he is seeking, nor would he be that comfortable with. If he stays here, he continues to play in a somewhat appealing environment for him. Does that factor in to his decision?
    (I am not naive; I understand most modern day athletes want the money, period. But, is the situation with Fro a bit different?) I defer…

    @RomJan,

    I would go with:

    Уважай Фро!

    It’s a grammar thing

  15. Big Rob in Dallas says:

    @scv king,

    When Fro signed his last contract, didn’t he eschew big money for a long term contract? Also, I think the “am I going to be traded” monkey is off his back combined with 2 weeks rest has him playing out of this world.

  16. Kings Fan In Idaho says:

    Just keep showing us what you are capable of Fro. You are amazing.

    I’ve noticed Fro uses a longer stick then most, at least it looks that way to me, and he’s very good at using it to protect the puck. Is there a rule on how long the stick can be? I know there are rules on how much curve the blade can have.

  17. Gizmo says:

    @Kings Fan In Idaho, Yes, there are rules to how long the stick can be.
    I heard they had to petition the league for a longer stick for Zdeno Chara because he’s so big.

  18. VanKingsFan says:

    I like the idea of Fro playing up with Stoll and Brown once Williams returns.

    Keep Modin, Zeus and Simmer together, and then your 4th line is Clune, Halpern and Richie

  19. Mark1967 says:

    Frolov is one of those players that needs the kick in the butt, Pat on the back, Sit on the bench, wake up calls more than some. He is very “gifted” and a good person… He just requires matinence… Great job Fro!!!

  20. mrbrett7 says:

    @VanKingsFan, I agree, but, where do you put Simmonds?

  21. mrbrett7 says:

    I’m glad I’m not Lombardi. Frolov could EASILY get 5-6 million/year on the open market. Thing is, I’m not so sure he wants to be on the open market. He doesn’t seem to like change too much. Question is…is he worth 5-6 million per season? I’m not so sure he is, not in my opinion. He’s a good hockey player, yes, but not 5-6 million per season good.

    Then again, neither is Handzus, and he’s getting close to those numbers.

    Frolov does bring something to the game that others can’t. There isn’t anyone on this team who can cycle the puck the way he can, and make no mistake, that IS a weapon.

  22. mrbrett7 says:

    @mrbrett7, Oops! I’m an idiot…nevermind.

  23. Stuart says:

    @mrbrett7, Fro has puck possession skills like a Jagr did, or Forsberg did. Fro would get that money from someone. But hopefully you’re right and he doesn’t want to change his life that drastically.

    btw – notice how bad DB handled that puck last night? I did.

  24. scv king says:

    @Stuart, Last Night? Try most of the year. DB has constantly turned the puck over. I really like DB, but his puck handling has been awful.

  25. Stuart says:

    @scv king, I only point out because I made this claim yesterday and I was called ridiculous for saying it. If he weren’t our captain, I’d say he turns it over as regularly as TP had.

  26. jet says:

    @Big Rob in Dallas, what he said

  27. jet says:

    @Shakes, keep proping that thing up, the 401 K is almost back to normal.

  28. mrbrett7 says:

    @Stuart, Yeah, DB has been struggling something awful. When he relaxes, he plays great.

    I think he needs some ridiline.

    But, I also feel he feels lost playing with Kopitar and Smyth. Smyth plays the same role he does. That line needs a guy like Williams, who has the ability to slow the play down, and make plays in small spaces. Brown can’t do that, and never has been able to. He’s a pure power forward, and no power forward I can remember has the ability to make slick plays in tight spaces.

    Put him on a line with Frolov and Stoll, and I think you see a different guy…that’s my opinion anyway.

  29. FRO24 says:

    FROLOV-FROLOV AND FROLOV

  30. johnjuan says:

    Fro lifts the stick and steals the puck more than any player in the league ( well maybe Datsyuk). He has come off the Olympic break feeling good and looking to score.

    Dont be surprised to see him in the mid 20’s before regular season ends.

  31. OahuKingzFan says:

    I have and I always will support the FRO. Like I said in post before,its taken him awhile to get used to TM’s system. He still is immovable on the puck, he still creates opportunities for others wehther he’s trying to score (wraparounds,Lol) or not. To me, he is the face of the kings. He could have bolted, bitzhed, complained like some others who aren’t here did. He never, he just came back year after year and performed. FRO U DA SHIZNIT! GO KINGZ!

  32. RomJan says:

    @jet, Big Rob in Dallas

    Уважай Фро!–you’re telling someone..

    Уважать Фро!-you’re speaking in general.

    Hey I could be wrong, I’m not russian and I’ve been in US the last 20 years so my knowledge I’m sure has deteriorated

  33. igdlaw says:

    @johnjuan, I think it was Datsyuk who said Fro was the most underrated player in the NHL. PD certainly sees something many other don’t.

  34. luc20rules says:

    @Big Rob in Dallas,
    I know Fro won’t say it so.

    Please Translate:
    Dear 2010 Russian Olympic Team Selection Commitee,
    You Suck!

  35. luc20rules says:

    @luc20rules,
    Or maybe he just wants to be lifting some silverware in June while he does it.
    At least thats what his play is moving toward.

  36. luc20rules says:

    @VanKingsFan,
    I like it. We now have a 4th line thats not just a hope nothing bad happens for 5 or 6 minutes a game. The 4th line can score and help wear down other teams in a OT game or long series. I can see Parse sneak in occasionally if we need a scoring boost. I still believe in Parse’s skill just want to see the Simmonds/Richardson type nonstop motor and effort.

  37. luc20rules says:

    @mrbrett7,
    Your right Brown is best playing at full speed. He has the speed to start the break aways, even without great finishing skills he is relentless, and won’t shy away from the tough spots on the ice.

  38. Big Rob in Dallas says:

    @luc20rules,

    Дорогой комитет выбора русской олимпийской команды 2010 года, вы хуёвые!

    RomJan:

    The funny thing is that we are trying to translate something that can’t be translated to Russian. “Respect the Fro” I’ll just say that you gave the infinitive of respect where I gave the command or imperative form. Done with Russian lessons for the consideration of the rest of the blog who do not care.
