Justin Williams continues to skate with the Kings’ fourth-line players in practice. The big day for Williams will be Monday, when the team doctor will look at x-rays of his leg and determine if Williams is ready to move forward. If the news is positive, it’s no stretch to say that Williams’ status at that point could be considered day-to-day.
Williams hasn’t revealed his target date for a return. Today, I joked around with Williams, pulled out my pocket schedule and pointed to March 18 as the game I thought he would return. Ryan Smyth, who knows what Williams’ target date is, looked over his shoulder, but both guys maintained poker faces. It’s possible that it could actually be a couple games earlier than that, but I picked March 18 because there are three days off before that game, and it would give Williams ample practice time to prepare. We’ll see…

Well, Rich…
Let’s see how well you play poker.
You just called JW’s bluff.
We shall see.
Can’t wait to see him be back! This is just great news!
That’ll be a big game, too. I’d love to see a win over Chicago, that would be a great confidence-builder.
JW will be a huge component to this team’s success, and the sooner he comes back, the better. Im still not, despite my 1st round playoff ticket purchase, convinced 100% that we are in yet.
Gotta admit, after last night, this score warms the cockles of my heart!
det 3-0 NSH/2nd period, 15:00 left
The first Detroit goal came on a steal right in front of the goaltender, with an immediate put-back to score.
The Kings need him now, just put a band-aid on the limb and get back on the ice. They have no time for this kind of laziness.
10 bonus points for using “cockles”
Good news. Would be great to see him back!!!
I love how much this guy wants to play! He knows he can help and is pushing himself beyond all expectations.
Wrong home team.
nsh 1-4 DET/2nd period, @8:00
Looks like our old friend Lappy will be watching from the press box tomorrow night.
@Wavesinair,
…Subtract the bonus points.
Still at zero.
@edwood2,
and cammy is still hurt. we need this game, especially after the way we lost in MTL last year. that was brutal.
Rich, This is why everyone was asking for updates.
Did he require surgery, were pins/screws inserted, or has the cast been removed yet. I had never heard of this bone wrap procedure.
We didn’t deserve “Maybe I’m not doing my job well enough he is probably out for the season.”
Dude, that one really took me off guard. You’ve done a great job Rich, but some of us really care about the players and heck, I even wanted to know if his spirts and attitude were good after his injury history of the last 3 years. I do realize though that with the seriousness of the injury he may not have even been around the teams training center and you may have had no access to speak to him.
Its good to hear JW will be back soon. That Line JW – AK – RS were awesome to start the season.
Good thing is, this year they play in OUR barn!
Justin Williams… true grit. The definition of a hockey player. If one of us had his injury we would probably still be barely hobbling from the bed to the porcelain throne.
True that. Although I doubt any one of us would have had his ’steve austin’ procedure. You’re so right about the definition of a (good) hockey player. He’s not just gritty, he’s deadly smart. I still contend he plays better when he gets mad, but that’s just my perception.
That sucks. The cockles of my heart are not cold.
now cold, not not cold! damn it!
@edwood2, lappy plays for the flyers not the habs
Oh man, that would be outstanding having Willy back. I hope he’s able to come back and contribute and not just come back. I love this kid and I wish him the best in his return.
@Wavesinair,
Maybe this will help.
van 1-5 CHI/1st intermission

Oh, about cockles…
Wiki:
“Cockle is the common name for a group of (mostly) small, edible, saltwater clams, marine bivalve molluscs in the family Cardiidae.
Various species of cockles live in sandy sheltered beaches throughout the world.
The distinctive rounded shells of cockles are symmetrical, and are heart-shaped when viewed from the end.”
Didn’t DL say in an interview mid March. I remember thinking hey, he’s giving it away. I thought it was a secret.
@neil,
Best news I’ve heard in awhile…
@neil,
Neil, was he skating full speed with contact and was he doing the dirty work along the boards? Man, oh, man that’s exciting. Thanks for the report.
Bouncing Goalie Update:
van 2-6 CHI/2nd intermission
-Raycroft not much better than Luongo-
@luc20rules,
All of those questions you were asking in a smart alec way have already been answered in a previous blog by Rich.
@BakoCAkingsCondorsGuy,
I’m glad you cleared that up.Stupid me thought cockles was a metaphore for shlong.
@edwood2, Lapierre is out on suspension. I did a double take when I saw the name also, but it is a different player.
@BakoCAkingsCondorsGuy,
That warmed the hartles of my cock.
Rich, do you know how Loktionov is doing?
@Stop the Puck,
Then you didn’t take enough math in school. :D
@luc20rules, Dude, keep up with Rich cause he’s already done what you’ve requested.
Come on Blogger STOP THE PUCK we are going to the playoffs, wheres your cockles
@AZ King, Oops, my bad. At least one of their players will be watching!
@Dan H.,
My bad I didn’t check the blog over the olympic break while since I heard the teams weren’t allowed to practice.
Sorry Rich, I went back and you provided great coverage of Williams starting on Feb. 24th when he first started skating again.
