Injury report

Rob Scuderi is once again listed as “questionable” with his still-undisclosed lower-body injury. I pointed out to Terry Murray that after the injury took place, Murray insinuated it was possible that Scuderi would only miss one game. Now he’s at six games, and counting…

“Those things just linger, it seems,” Murray said of the still-undisclosed injury. “You want to make sure it’s 100 percent before getting back into the action. There’s nothing worse than a setback.”

Also, in much older injury news, I asked Drew Doughty about his front teeth, which were damaged in the Oct. 10 game against St. Louis when he got struck by an errant puck. Doughty said he’s still in danger of losing the teeth and requires more work, but hasn’t had time to get it done. Coincidentally enough, Doughty said he had a dental appointment today that he had to miss.

After Doughty’s injury my wife said … and I quote “This is the reason our kids won’t be playing hockey”.

Never mind that we don’t even HAVE any kids yet .. but I digress.

  2. Slapshot says:

Kids today play in full cage. No dental worries till Jrs usually.

Kind of off subject, but with all the money hockey players make these days why don’t they get dental implants.Plastic surgery too.I think Lappy’s nose is still crooked.

  4. DB6 says:

    Dominick… because they’re HOCKEY PLAYERS

    =)

The fact that Scuderi was supposed to be out for 1 game and ends up missing 6 doesn’t exactly make me thrilled to hear that Smyth will miss a month. How many months will he miss in reality? 3? 6?

The kings don’t have an in-house dentist at Staples? I thought that place had everything.

  7. wavesinair says:

That is sooooo funny Matt. Classic. Looks like you have a future battle on your hands.

Dominick, as DB6 said, they are after all hockey players. But still, practically speaking, the reason they don’t get implants or nose jobs is because they are still playing. No sense in getting yourself all pretty only to have your face smashed again! Wait until retirement, then do it.

  8. Dominick says:

Yeah but if I were young and made hundreds of thousands of dollars.I’d get a tatoo and fix my grill.

  9. wavesinair says:

I’m assuming you’d fix your grill and get tats to get chicks, right? Well, I don’t care how ugly you are because the “hundreds of thousands of dollars” will do the job far better than the best of looks.

Dominick – WRT Lappy, check out this link c/o philly.com

“Flyers Notes: Laperriere skates, 7 teeth lighter”

    http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/20091129_Flyers_Notes___Laperriere_skates__7_teeth_lighter.html

My favorite excerpt: “Despite the pain of losing seven teeth – up from the original estimate of four – and having 50 to 100 stitches administered, the happy-go-lucky player known as “Lappy” refused to miss a game.”

  13. Dominick says:

  14. Steve Soldo says:

Drew should get his teeth fixed.

  15. pr0cess says:

So was it that wayne never took them to the face or cause he had the respect not to get man handled?? cause his smile was perfect the whole time he played? Or was it already fake lol

  16. kingsfan2316 says:

Waynes missing more than a few teeth!

“All I was for Christmas is my two front teeth. Thanks Santa!” – Drew Doughty

  18. jet says:

Dom — I do not know about the teeth, but you only get one shot at the nose. They have to take out a lot of cartilage to clean it up. If you destroy it again there is not enough cartilage to make it look right.
This is what I was told, but my nose was under my right eye, so there was a lot of work needed.

  19. What's the frequency, Kenneth? says:

WRT “this is why I won’t let the kids play hockey,” this isn’t that incident. Dewey was not wearing a mouth guard. It probably would have at least saved the teeth from (eventually) being extracted.

@ wonton: Don’t worry about Smytty. He’ll probably beat the estimate.

  20. Deker says:

No implants. Get hit again and all you lose is the bone they are implanted in.

  21. LAKingsFan26 says:

Hey Jeff, You mentioned Deadmarsh being back around Christmas. Was that the same timeframe for Allison too?

(so glad that silliness is over)

  22. Jesse says:

About the Scuderi situation, can you get T-Murray to speak to his plans for the blueline when Scuderi’s back? Is Jones the odd man out?
